Marquette, MI – A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect for Marquette and Alger Counties from 7 p.m. Saturday through 7 p.m. Monday, according to the National Weather Service in Marquette. The system is expected to bring lake effect snow and slippery travel conditions through the start of the workweek.

Forecasters say 1 to 4 inches of snow are likely across most areas, with localized totals up to 8 inches possible in the most persistent lake effect bands—especially across far eastern Marquette County and much of Alger County.

The NWS cautions that visibility and road conditions may change rapidly, with snow showers varying from heavy bursts to lighter flurries within short distances. Motorists should slow down and allow extra time for travel, particularly during the Monday morning and evening commutes, when impacts are expected to be most noticeable.

Drivers are urged to monitor local forecasts and check Michigan road conditions by dialing 511 before heading out.
