Jefferson, OR – A shoplifting report at a Dollar General in Jefferson on Monday afternoon led to two arrests and the seizure of suspected methamphetamine, according to the Marion County Sheriff’s Office.
According to deputies, staff at the Dollar General on North 2nd Street reported that a woman had allegedly concealed merchandise in a black purse before leaving the store around 1:30 p.m. Deputies located the suspect, identified as 46-year-old Christina Hoge, near a Subaru Impreza connected to the incident.
Deputies said they found unpaid merchandise in Hoge’s possession, supported by store surveillance video reportedly showing her making repeated trips inside the business and allegedly concealing items. When Hoge opened her purse, deputies reported locating a bag containing a crystal-like substance she allegedly admitted was methamphetamine. Authorities estimate the seized amount between two and ten grams.
Deputies also identified the driver of the Subaru as 48-year-old Derek Wickstrom, whom store staff had previously linked to the incident. Wickstrom was taken into custody on suspicion of Theft in the Second Degree. Deputies believe additional stolen items may have been concealed inside the vehicle registered to him.
Hoge was arrested and transported to the Marion County Jail on allegations of theft and possession of a controlled substance.
The Marion County Sheriff’s Office thanked Dollar General staff for their quick reporting, which deputies said helped them respond and resolve the case safely.
