Indianapolis, IN – A 49-year-old Indianapolis man was arrested Wednesday afternoon, just hours after an early morning shooting left another man in critical condition, according to the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD).

According to IMPD, officers responded around 8:05 a.m. Wednesday, November 12, 2025, to the 6000 block of Windsor Drive after receiving reports of a person shot. When officers arrived, they found an adult male suffering from gunshot wounds. Emergency crews transported the victim to a local hospital, where he remains in critical condition.

Detectives canvassed the neighborhood for witnesses and surveillance footage, identifying the suspect as Ronald Washington, who allegedly fled the area before police arrived.

By that afternoon, IMPD’s Violent Crimes Unit, SWAT Team, and the U.S. Marshals Service located Washington in the 8700 block of Montery Court, where he was arrested without incident. Following consultation with the Marion County Prosecutor’s Office, Washington was charged with attempted murder.

Police emphasized that the arrest followed a coordinated, rapid investigation involving multiple law enforcement agencies.

An IMPD spokesperson reminded the public that an arrest is not proof of guilt, and Washington is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
