Indianapolis, IN – Indianapolis police announced multiple arrests this month following investigations into alleged online crimes against children, underscoring what officials describe as an ongoing effort to protect vulnerable victims.

According to the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, detectives with the Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Unit arrested three individuals in separate cases tied to alleged child exploitation activity during January.

The first arrest occurred January 13, when 73-year-old John Huehls was taken into custody in the 3100 block of East Edgewood Avenue. Police say Huehls was arrested on a preliminary charge of possession of child pornography.

A second arrest followed on January 14, when 25-year-old Alec Deuel was arrested on five preliminary counts of child exploitation, according to IMPD.

The third arrest occurred January 21, when officers arrested 30-year-old Sajad Alkhazaali in the 400 block of Kimmeridge Lane. Police said the arrest was made as part of an ongoing ICAC investigation and includes a preliminary charge of child exploitation.

IMPD emphasized that all arrests are accusations only, and that Huehls, Deuel, and Alkhazaali should be considered innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law. The Marion County Prosecutor’s Office will make final charging decisions.

Sergeant Nicolle Flynn with IMPD said the work of ICAC detectives remains challenging but critical.

“Protecting our children and preventing further harm is at the heart of everything we do,” Flynn said. “This job is incredibly difficult, but it’s critical—and we will continue to work to hold criminals accountable.”

Police urge anyone who suspects online child exploitation or abuse to contact 911 or submit a tip through the National CyberTipline at cybertipline.org.
