Indianapolis, IN – Detectives with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department’s Overdose Death Task Force (ODTF) have arrested a 44-year-old man in connection with a double fatal overdose that occurred in August 2024.

According to IMPD, officers responded to a welfare check on August 11, 2024, at a residence in the 2200 block of Riverside East Drive. Two women were found unresponsive. One victim was pronounced dead at the scene, while the second was transported to a local hospital, where she later passed away. Investigators determined both deaths were the result of a suspected overdose.

Through coordinated work with the Drug Enforcement Administration, Indiana State Police, and internal IMPD units, detectives identified the suspect as the alleged supplier of the illegal substances. Police said the Marion County Prosecutor’s Office has now charged him with two counts of dealing a controlled substance resulting in death, a Level 1 felony. Each charge corresponds to one of the victims.

Authorities note this marks the ninth arrest by the ODTF tied to fatal overdoses since its creation in 2024. Officials said the task force was formed to respond to the rise in overdose-related deaths and to strengthen collaboration between local, state, and federal agencies.

The case remains under investigation.
