Indianapolis, IN – Two men were hospitalized after a stabbing early Saturday morning near downtown Indianapolis, according to police.

The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) reported that the incident occurred around 12:30 a.m. on October 4, 2025, near Senate Avenue and West Washington Street. Officers found two adult males suffering injuries — one with lacerations and the other with wounds consistent with a stabbing. Detectives said the disturbance appeared to be an isolated altercation between the two and not a random attack.

According to IMPD, both men received medical treatment, and the man with apparent stab wounds remains hospitalized in stable condition.

Following consultation with the Marion County Prosecutor’s Office, police arrested 38-year-old Mark Sanchez at the hospital for his alleged involvement in the incident. Sanchez was taken into custody on preliminary misdemeanor charges of battery with injury, unlawful entry of a motor vehicle, and public intoxication. Detectives said all involved parties have been identified, and no further suspects are being sought.

Sanchez remains hospitalized and has not yet been booked into the Marion County Adult Detention Center. Prosecutors will determine final charges. IMPD emphasized that an arrest is an accusation and Sanchez is presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.
