Summerfield, FL – Two men were arrested this week in separate but connected incidents after Marion County deputies served a warrant in Summerfield, authorities said.

According to the Marion County Sheriff’s Office, deputies arrived at a home Tuesday to arrest Patrick Ortwein, 27, who was wanted for grand theft of a motor vehicle. While deputies were taking Ortwein into custody, another man allegedly caused a scene nearby.

Deputies say Darrius Reid, 51, picked up a deputy’s body camera that had fallen off during the arrest. Reid later denied touching the device, but deputies detained him after reviewing the situation.

Investigators also noted that Reid has an open case from August, in which he allegedly battered a law enforcement officer.

Ortwein was arrested on the outstanding warrant and later bonded out Wednesday afternoon, while Reid remains in custody at the Marion County Jail.

Authorities have not released additional information on pending court dates.
