Glendale, AZ – Drivers using Loop 101 (Agua Fria Freeway) should plan for long-term ramp closures starting Monday, Oct. 13, as the Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT) continues its major widening project between 75th Avenue and Interstate 17.

According to ADOT, the westbound Loop 101 on-ramp at 51st Avenue will close first on Monday, followed by the westbound off-ramp at 59th Avenue and on-ramp at 67th Avenue, which will shut down beginning Monday, Oct. 20. The closures are part of a two-and-a-half-year project aimed at improving traffic flow and safety through one of the West Valley’s busiest corridors.

The $project—funded by Maricopa County’s Proposition 400—adds one general-purpose lane in each direction, widens several bridges, and upgrades interchange ramps. Crews will also resurface the roadway and enhance noise walls and drainage systems along the corridor.

ADOT advises drivers to expect extended ramp closures lasting up to 60 days and to slow down and merge carefully when traveling near work zones. Overnight and weekend work is planned to reduce daytime disruption, and access to nearby businesses and residences will remain open.
