Marengo, IN – Two southern Indiana residents were arrested early Wednesday after a traffic stop in Crawford County allegedly uncovered methamphetamine tied to a months-long drug investigation.

According to the Indiana State Police, troopers and Crawford County deputies stopped a vehicle near Carefree around 12:44 a.m. Wednesday. Investigators said signs of criminal activity led to the deployment of K-9 Re my, which alerted to possible drugs in the vehicle. No narcotics were immediately located inside the car, police said.

During questioning, officers learned the driver, Allen Crawford, had entered a Pilot gas station restroom just before the stop. Deputy Nathan Wiseman checked the restroom and allegedly found a ceiling tile out of place. Investigators reported discovering approximately 57 grams of suspected methamphetamine hidden inside. Authorities stated the drugs were linked to Crawford.

Both Crawford, 39, and passenger Sarah Williams, 42, of Marengo, were taken into custody and booked into the Crawford County Jail. Crawford faces multiple felony charges, including dealing methamphetamine, possession of more than 28 grams of methamphetamine, maintaining a common nuisance, and obstruction of justice. Williams was charged with dealing methamphetamine and visiting a common nuisance, police said.

The arrests concluded what authorities described as a collaborative investigation between the Indiana State Police and the Crawford County Sheriff’s Office. Officers assisting in the operation included Trooper Jon Villanueva, Deputy Tyler Smith, Deputy Nathan Wiseman, Deputy Gary Nale, and Trooper Kayla Denk-Mundy, among others.

Police said both suspects remained in custody Wednesday on bond.
