Winnipeg, MB – Snowfall is rapidly intensifying across Manitoba Friday, with Winnipeg under a weather warning as travel conditions deteriorate along major routes like Highway 1 and Route 90.

Environment Canada warns that between 15 and 30 centimeters of snow could blanket Winnipeg by late Friday. Wind gusts reaching 60 km/h will continue into the evening, creating localized whiteouts and rapidly changing road conditions. Wind chills may drop to -11°C overnight, making outdoor exposure risky.

According to Environment Canada, the heaviest accumulation will occur through Friday evening. Northern parts of the city could receive over 30 centimeters of snow. Motorists are urged to delay travel and prepare emergency kits, especially if commuting on major highways.

Light snow continues into early Saturday morning before clearing. Saturday’s high is expected to reach -4°C, with a low of -8°C overnight under partly cloudy skies. Sunday and Monday will bring sunshine but colder air, with overnight lows plummeting to -17°C and -13°C respectively.
