According to the Florence County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded Saturday morning, September 27, 2025, to a home at 446 Mack’s Lake Road. Witnesses reported a female victim had been assaulted and forced back inside by the suspect, later identified as Thomas Allen Thompson. The sheriff’s office said the suspect was armed and barricaded himself inside the residence with the victim.

The FCSO SWAT team responded and safely removed the victim. However, when deputies entered, Thompson was no longer present.
