Manhattan, IL — Hydrant flushing in the Butternut, Ridgefield, and Tramore subdivisions is set to begin Monday, October 21. Public Works will conduct this maintenance through October 24 to maintain water quality and ensure proper hydrant functionality.
According to the Village of Manhattan, Butternut and Brookstone flushing will occur from Monday through Wednesday, with Ridgefield, Foxford, and Tramore tentatively scheduled to follow through Thursday. Flushing in other areas, including Hanover Estates and Sunset Lakes, has already been completed.
During hydrant flushing, residents might notice cloudy or discolored water. Running faucets for several minutes should clear this up. The Village advises against using dishwashers and washing machines during this period to avoid potential issues. Residents are urged to drive cautiously in areas where hydrants are being flushed.
Signs will be posted at subdivision entrances as a reminder. For any concerns, residents are encouraged to contact Public Works at the number provided on the village’s website.
