Manchester, New Hampshire – A man fleeing police was struck and killed on Interstate 93 late Wednesday night after running into active traffic lanes, triggering a major emergency response in Manchester.
According to New Hampshire State Police, the incident began at 11:45 p.m. when a trooper attempted to stop a 2026 Toyota Camry traveling at a high rate of speed on I-93 North. The driver did not stop, prompting a brief pursuit that was discontinued when the vehicle exited at Exit 6.
Authorities said the vehicle was later found crashed on the Hanover Street Connector. The driver then fled on foot, climbed an embankment, and entered the northbound lanes of I-93, where he was struck by a passing Hyundai Elantra.
The driver of the Hyundai, identified as Jakob Cadorette of Epsom, stopped immediately and called 911. He was not injured and is cooperating with investigators.
The suspect was pronounced dead at the scene. His identity has not been released pending notification of family.
State Police said the Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Unit is leading the investigation. Anyone with information is asked to contact Trooper Eric Torrens.
