Bradenton, FL – Authorities in Manatee County are asking for the public’s help identifying a person accused of taking a wallet and phone left behind by a shopper at a local Target store Thursday evening.
According to the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office, the incident happened around 5 p.m. Thursday at the Bayshore Gardens Target, located at 6150 14th St. W. A shopper reportedly forgot their wallet and phone in a shopping cart while inside the store.
Instead of turning the items in to Target employees or contacting law enforcement, deputies say the suspect allegedly took the wallet and left the area.
Surveillance footage reviewed by investigators shows the individual entering the store around 5:20 p.m. with the cart containing the missing items. According to deputies, the person is later seen removing the wallet.
The Sheriff’s Office shared images of the suspect on social media as part of an “Attempt to Identify” request, urging anyone who recognizes the individual to come forward. Investigators emphasized that even small tips could help move the case forward.
Anyone with information is asked to contact the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office at 941-747-3011, ext. 2260. Tipsters do not need to provide their name when calling.
Authorities also reminded shoppers to double-check carts and checkout areas before leaving stores, especially during the busy holiday shopping season, when distractions are common and theft opportunities increase.
The investigation remains ongoing.
