Portland, Maine – A more seasonable mid-January pattern is expected across Maine next week, with periodic chances for snow and rain but no strong signal for unusually wet or dry conditions from Monday through Friday.

According to the National Weather Service Climate Prediction Center, Maine is favored to see near-normal precipitation during the January 12–16 period. Temperatures across much of New England are also projected to run above average, which may allow for a mix of snow and rain, especially along the coast and southern portions of the state.

Southern Maine, including Portland, Biddeford, and Brunswick, could see light snow events followed by rain or drizzle during milder periods, while interior and northern communities such as Bangor, Presque Isle, and Caribou are more likely to remain primarily snow. Any snowfall is expected to be intermittent rather than tied to a single, high-impact system.

The Maine Department of Transportation typically reminds drivers that even minor snow events can create slick travel conditions on I-95, Route 1, and secondary roads, particularly during early morning hours. Residents should stay prepared for changing conditions and allow extra travel time when snow showers develop.

The overall pattern looks steady through the workweek, though brief advisories remain possible with passing systems. Travelers should continue monitoring updates as conditions evolve through Friday.
