Caribou, ME – A Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect for northern Maine, with significant snowfall forecast from Wednesday morning through Thursday afternoon.

The National Weather Service predicts snow accumulations of 4 to 9 inches, with higher totals at elevations above 1,500 feet. Winds from the east, ranging between 10 and 20 mph, could further reduce visibility during snowfall.

Affected areas include Northwest Aroostook, Northern Somerset, Northern Piscataquis, and Central Piscataquis Counties. Travel during the Wednesday evening and Thursday morning commutes could be hazardous due to snow-covered roads and limited visibility.

According to the advisory, the snowstorm begins at 9 a.m. Wednesday and is expected to taper off by 3 p.m. Thursday. Residents are encouraged to avoid unnecessary travel, use caution while driving, and stay informed on road conditions through New England 511.

Local officials recommend preparing vehicles with winter safety kits and checking weather updates frequently.

Stay safe by planning ahead and limiting travel during peak storm hours.
