Augusta, ME – A winter weather advisory remains in effect for much of central and western Maine until 4 a.m. Wednesday, as light snow and gusty winds continue to affect travel across the region.

According to the National Weather Service, additional snow accumulation of up to one inch is expected, bringing the total to between 4 and 6 inches in areas like Lewiston, Farmington, and Skowhegan. Winds may gust up to 35 mph, causing reduced visibility and icy road conditions.

Travelers are advised to slow down and exercise caution, particularly on highways and secondary roads. As temperatures continue to drop, conditions are expected to worsen, leading to slippery travel in both urban and rural areas.

For real-time road conditions, drivers can visit New England 511. The advisory will remain in place until early morning hours, giving Maine residents and visitors ample time to prepare for these adverse weather conditions.
