Caribou, ME – A bitter cold snap grips northern Maine this week, with snow arriving Thursday and dangerous wind chills persisting through Wednesday.
According to the National Weather Service, temperatures will drop as low as -7°F Tuesday night, with wind chills plunging to -24°F Wednesday morning. Highs will struggle to reach 10°F midweek, keeping the region in an arctic chill.
Snow is expected to move in Thursday afternoon, with accumulations up to several inches possible. Gusty winds of 22–33 mph could lead to blowing snow and reduced visibility, making travel hazardous. Snow may transition to rain near the coast.
Friday brings a mix of lingering snow showers and breezy conditions, with a high near 33°F. The weekend remains cold, with more snow chances by Sunday.
Residents should prepare for icy roads, bundle up against dangerous wind chills, and monitor forecasts for potential winter weather advisories.
