Caribou, Maine – Maine residents can expect several days of sunshine and rising temperatures as high pressure from the north delivers improved air quality and dry weather. Any lingering forest fire smoke in Downeast areas should clear out this morning, while temperatures climb from the mid 70s in the north to upper 70s in the southern interior.
According to the National Weather Service in Caribou, tonight will be clear and cool, with lows dropping to the 40s in the north and mid-50s Downeast. Some river valleys may see patchy fog by morning.
Dry conditions are forecast to persist throughout the week, with a gradual warming trend. Highs will approach 80 degrees on Wednesday, reach the low 80s by Thursday, and surge into the mid-80s on Friday, especially in southern and western Maine. Saturday remains dry and warm. By Sunday and early next week, humidity is expected to increase, making for muggy, summerlike days.
Drivers and outdoor enthusiasts should take advantage of the clear, comfortable conditions this week, but prepare for hotter, more humid weather by Sunday. Air quality is expected to remain good across most of the state.
More updates and possible advisories are expected if the warming trend intensifies into next week.
