Caribou, Maine – A crisp stretch of late-summer weather settles into Maine today as high pressure pushes in from the west. Gusty winds, reaching up to 25 mph in some northern and central areas, are expected this afternoon before skies turn calm and clear tonight.

According to the National Weather Service in Caribou, daytime highs will hold in the 60s across northern Maine and low 70s along the coast. Cooler air filters in overnight, with clear skies allowing for radiational cooling. Lows will drop into the upper 30s and 40s across the north, while Downeast Maine holds closer to the upper 40s.

Travelers on rural roads in Aroostook County and along Route 1 should be alert for breezy crosswinds today. Residents in low-lying valleys could also see the coldest readings, where overnight temperatures may briefly dip into the mid-30s.

The dry stretch continues through Tuesday, but the next chance for rain returns by midweek, potentially impacting outdoor activities and travel late Wednesday into Thursday.
