Bangor, Maine – Sunshine returns to much of Maine on Monday, but rain and cooler temperatures are expected to roll in by Tuesday, impacting travel and outdoor plans across the state.
According to the National Weather Service in Caribou, skies will remain mostly clear Sunday night, with lows dropping into the low 30s in northern towns like Allagash and Fort Kent, and mid-40s along the coast. Highs on Monday will range from the upper 50s to mid-60s, offering a brief window of dry, mild weather before conditions shift.
Clouds will increase throughout Monday night, with light showers likely to begin Tuesday morning, especially in the Bangor and Downeast regions. Rain chances will persist into Tuesday evening, with another round of showers likely by Wednesday.
Drivers should plan for wet commutes both Tuesday and Wednesday, particularly along I-95 and coastal Route 1. Residents are encouraged to check local drainage and keep umbrellas and rain gear handy as multiple rounds of precipitation move through.
Rain is expected to taper off late Wednesday, but cooler conditions and isolated showers could linger through Thursday, signaling a damp and unsettled stretch for the workweek.
