Caribou, ME – Northern Maine will see another round of rain midweek as a series of weak systems bring unsettled fall weather before a cooler, drier pattern takes hold late this week. After early morning showers taper today, clouds will linger across much of Aroostook County with highs in the mid-50s to near 60.
According to the National Weather Service office in Caribou, a more organized system will arrive Wednesday, spreading steady rain across northern and eastern Maine through the afternoon and evening. Rainfall totals are expected to range between a quarter and a half inch for most areas, with locally higher amounts possible near Houlton and Presque Isle. Showers will gradually end late Wednesday night as the system exits into the Maritimes.
Behind the front, temperatures will turn cooler and breezier for Thursday and Friday. Highs will only reach the low to mid-50s, while overnight lows fall into the upper 30s and low 40s. According to forecasters, a few stray showers may linger Thursday, but most of the state will trend toward drier, partly sunny conditions heading into the weekend.
By Saturday, a crisp fall air mass will settle in, producing bright skies and chilly mornings. Interior valleys could see lows in the 30s with patchy frost possible by early Sunday. The late-week shift will bring classic northern New England weather—cool, dry, and clear—after several damp days.
