Caribou, Maine – Sunshine returns across Maine Saturday, with seasonably warm highs near 80°F from Caribou south to Bangor and a gentle southwesterly breeze inviting residents outdoors.

According to the National Weather Service in Caribou, increasing clouds will roll in Saturday night, followed by showers arriving late as a cold front approaches from the west. Forecasters expect up to an inch of rain over interior southern counties on Sunday, especially along a band stretching from Jackman through Millinocket and Greenville, raising concerns about ponding on roads and low-lying areas.

Sunday’s showers will break the warmth, bringing the first significant rainfall since early July to the region. Drivers along I-95 and Route 2 should plan for wet pavement and limited visibility, especially by midday. Outdoor plans may need to adjust as gusty northwest winds push in behind the rain.

By Monday, temperatures will dip into the 60s north and low 70s Downeast, with brisk winds making it feel even cooler. Residents are encouraged to keep devices charged, check local alerts, and limit travel during the heaviest rain bands Sunday.

Looking ahead, a warming trend returns Tuesday and Wednesday before another cold front and shower chance late Thursday. Additional advisories may be issued as conditions change.
