Caribou, Maine – Cool, soaking rain will continue across Maine through Saturday night, with some Downeast and interior towns expecting more than 1.5 inches of rainfall by evening.
According to the National Weather Service in Caribou, steady showers will move across central and eastern Maine through tonight. Rain totals range from 0.5 inches in northern towns like Fort Kent and Van Buren to over an inch from Millinocket southward, including Bangor, Bar Harbor, and Ellsworth. High temperatures will stay stuck in the 50s and low 60s, with lows dropping into the low 50s overnight.
Travelers should prepare for reduced visibility and ponding on roads, especially along Route 1 and I-95 corridors. Rain will taper to lighter showers after sunset.
Sunday will bring another chance for scattered showers across northern Maine, while southern areas stay drier. Conditions improve dramatically Monday, with partly sunny skies and highs soaring into the low to mid-80s inland.
A strong cold front arrives Tuesday, bringing a renewed threat of thunderstorms and heavy rainfall. Gusty winds may accompany inland storms. Areas like Dover-Foxcroft and Patten could see the strongest impacts.
