Bangor, ME – A cold front passing through Maine today is expected to bring scattered showers to northern parts of the state, according to the National Weather Service in Caribou. The greatest chance for rainfall is forecast in northeastern Aroostook County, with lesser chances in far eastern Maine.
Temperatures will remain above normal for late September, with highs reaching the low 80s in the Bangor region and 70s across most other areas. Greenville and Millinocket are forecast to top out near 78°F, while Caribou will reach 73°F.
According to the forecast, dry conditions are expected to dominate next week. Monday and Tuesday will continue with above-normal warmth before cooler air moves in midweek. By Wednesday, temperatures are projected to drop into the 50s for much of northern Maine, with highs in the 60s elsewhere.
The Caribou office of the National Weather Service noted that little chance of rain is expected through Friday, signaling a relatively dry stretch for the state as October begins. Residents should prepare for shifting temperatures, with above-average warmth early in the week followed by a noticeable cooldown.
