Maine – Bitter morning air hangs over northern Aroostook County as sunlight begins to stretch across quiet snowfields and frozen roads. Temperatures sit near 17°F in Caribou, with wind chills dipping close to single digits. The calm start will shift quickly as a round of accumulating snow approaches for Saturday.

According to the National Weather Service in Caribou, a Winter Weather Advisory is in effect Saturday from early morning through the evening. Snow is expected to develop by the early morning hours and continue through the day. Totals between 1 and 3 inches are likely across much of northern Maine, including Caribou, Presque Isle, and Fort Kent.

Roads may turn snow-covered quickly as the snowfall intensifies during the late morning and midday hours. Drivers along Route 1, Route 89, and other rural roads across Aroostook County should plan extra time for travel. Visibility could briefly drop during heavier bursts of snow.

Snow may linger into the evening before gradually tapering off later at night. Temperatures fall toward the mid-teens, allowing untreated roads to remain slick through the night.

Conditions improve Sunday as sunshine returns across northern Maine. Temperatures climb near 34°F, offering a brief break from active weather.

Meteorologists are already tracking another system expected early next week. Snow may redevelop late Sunday night before a transition toward a wintry mix Monday morning. Temperatures then climb sharply toward 50°F by Monday afternoon, changing precipitation to rain and creating slushy road conditions.

Rain and breezy conditions may continue Monday night before another rain-and-snow mix develops Tuesday across northern Maine.

This active March pattern will keep weather changing quickly across the region.
