Caribou, ME – Spring’s start to the week in northern Maine will feel more like winter as rain, snow, and low visibility hit Caribou. A multi-day storm system is set to bring a rain-snow mix beginning Monday morning and continuing through at least Wednesday night.

According to the National Weather Service, rain will begin Monday with a chance of snow showers before 11 a.m., then light rain through the day. Temperatures will reach 46°F with northeast winds at 11 mph and gusts up to 22 mph. Monday night, snow chances increase again with lows around 30°F, followed by heavier snow Tuesday night into Wednesday.

Drivers along Route 1 and nearby rural roads should prepare for slick conditions and poor visibility through midweek. The highest travel risk comes Tuesday night, when accumulating snow and a chance of freezing rain could create dangerous driving conditions. Visibility may drop below 2 miles at times due to fog and mixed precipitation.

The forecast continues with additional snowfall Wednesday night, tapering off by early Thursday morning. Winds will remain steady from the northeast throughout the event.
