Caribou, Maine – Rain will begin moving into Maine late tonight, spreading from south to north and continuing into Saturday, with total rainfall expected to reach 1.5 inches in some areas. The heaviest rainfall will be in southern and central Maine, where totals could exceed an inch in some spots, while areas further north may see up to 0.8 inches.
According to the National Weather Service, the rain will taper off by Saturday night, and temperatures will remain in the 40s and 50s across the state, with the Downeast regions seeing some of the warmest highs. Winds will shift to a gusty northwest direction by Sunday, clearing skies and bringing sunshine across much of the state. Highs Sunday will range from the low 50s in the north to the upper 50s Downeast.
The rain will also bring significant cloud cover today, with breaks of sunshine expected in northern and northeastern Maine later in the afternoon. Highs will range from the mid-50s to low 60s across the region today. Sunday’s clearer skies will bring a welcome respite, with Monday and Tuesday offering mild and partly sunny conditions before a warm-up arrives mid-week, with highs reaching the 70s inland.
