Caribou, ME – Scattered snow showers are expected to increase across northern and central Maine throughout Wednesday afternoon and evening, with some areas seeing slushy accumulations by nightfall.

According to the National Weather Service in Caribou, a low-pressure system tracking off the coast is expected to push a mix of rain and wet snow into Eastern Downeast Maine by this evening. Heavier bursts of snow and graupel could impact areas in the far north and west earlier in the day before spreading eastward.

High temperatures will range from the upper 30s in the north to the mid-40s across central and southern regions. Tonight, temperatures will fall into the low 20s and upper teens inland, raising the potential for slick roads, especially in higher elevations.

Drivers are advised to use caution during the evening commute, particularly on untreated secondary roads. Visibility may drop quickly during heavier snow bursts. Snow showers are likely to taper off overnight but may return Thursday, especially across northern areas.

Looking ahead, Maine will see mostly cloudy skies through Friday, with a chance of continued snow showers in the north and partly cloudy skies to the south. Another round of snow is possible Saturday across the southern part of the state.
