Cold air has settled over Northern and Eastern Maine as an Arctic front moves in. Clouds will increase tonight as a clipper system approaches, bringing snow to the region.

According to the National Weather Service in Caribou, snow will reach Downeast and Bangor before sunrise Wednesday. Light snow will extend northward, with accumulation tapering off further north. Snowfall will end by Wednesday evening.

A few inches of accumulation are expected in Bangor and Downeast. Winds will be brisk, making temperatures feel even colder.

By Wednesday night, conditions will turn dry but very cold. Temperatures will drop below zero in the north, while Bangor and Downeast see lows in the teens.

Another system may bring snow Friday night, though details remain uncertain. Residents should prepare for slick roads and bitter cold.
