Caribou, Maine – Scattered thunderstorms could roll into western Maine late Thursday afternoon, bringing brief downpours and travel delays through the evening hours.

According to the National Weather Service in Caribou, cloud cover will dominate most of the state Thursday, with partly sunny skies holding over the north. High temperatures will range from the low 70s in the cloudier southern areas to the upper 70s in the north. Showers and scattered storms are expected to persist overnight, particularly across northern regions, with lows near 60°F.

By Friday, additional rounds of rain and isolated thunderstorms will impact the north, while central and southern areas remain drier and warmer with highs climbing to the upper 70s. Roads in Aroostook and Piscataquis counties may see slick conditions during the morning and afternoon.

The weekend turns warm and dry across Maine, with sunny to partly cloudy skies and highs in the low 80s. Residents planning outdoor events should find favorable weather through Sunday.

More showers may return to northwestern Maine on Monday, but the pattern looks generally dry and warm heading into midweek.
