Caribou, Maine – Warm and breezy conditions will dominate much of Maine today, but residents from the north woods to the western highlands should prepare for scattered afternoon thunderstorms bringing brief downpours and gusty winds.

According to the National Weather Service in Caribou, Sunday’s highs will range from the upper 70s along the coast to the mid and upper 80s inland, especially north and west. Sunshine this morning will give way to building clouds ahead of today’s storms. Tonight stays mild with lows in the low 60s.

Monday will be mostly sunny and warm again, with highs near 80°F in the St. John Valley and mid-80s over interior Downeast.

A slow-moving cold front arrives Tuesday and lingers into Wednesday, bringing widespread showers and thunderstorms. Central and southern regions may see stronger storms with gusty winds by Wednesday afternoon. Highs Tuesday stay in the low to mid-80s, with a slight drop to the upper 70s and low 80s by Wednesday.

Cooler, drier air moves in Thursday through Saturday. Expect highs in the low 70s north to mid-70s south, offering a welcome break from the recent stretch of heat and humidity.

More updates will follow as the midweek storms develop. Keep alerts on and plan for changing conditions Tuesday into Wednesday.
