Caribou, ME – Northern Maine is bracing for a mix of rain, snow, and strong winds, with impacts expected through Thanksgiving week. Travelers on Route 11 should be cautious as rain is set to transition into snow Saturday night, creating potentially slick conditions.

According to the National Weather Service in Caribou, rain will persist through Saturday before turning to snow overnight, especially in higher elevations. Wind gusts could reach up to 45 mph, complicating outdoor activities and increasing the risk of power outages in some areas. Residents are urged to secure outdoor objects and monitor local updates for road conditions.

Sunday brings a mix of snow and rain showers before tapering off in the afternoon. Accumulations are expected to remain light, but drivers should still be prepared for reduced visibility and icy patches. Highs on Sunday will hover around 36°F, with wind chills making it feel much colder.

Looking ahead, Monday will see mostly cloudy skies with a high near 40°F, offering a brief break in precipitation. However, by Tuesday, another system could bring additional rain and snow, particularly in the evening. Temperatures will remain cold throughout the week, with highs in the 30s and lows near freezing.

Travelers heading out for Thanksgiving should plan for wintry weather, particularly in the evenings when snow and ice may develop. Check forecasts regularly and allow extra time to reach destinations safely.
