Caribou, ME — Rain and snow showers are impacting northern Maine today as a low-pressure system moves through the Maritimes. Areas from Fort Kent to Caribou and Oxbow are seeing precipitation, with some snow mixing in over the northwest. High temperatures are expected to range from the low 40s in the north to around 50°F in parts of Downeast Maine.
According to the National Weather Service in Caribou, moisture wrapping around the low is creating wet conditions across the northern tier. Meanwhile, Downeast regions including Bangor and Machias will remain mostly cloudy, breezy, and drier, with only isolated showers possible.
Tonight, skies will partially clear, especially after midnight. Low temperatures are forecast to dip into the low to mid-30s, with colder pockets in the northwest where snow may linger.
Thursday will bring partly cloudy skies to the north and mostly sunny conditions Downeast. Highs are expected in the mid-40s north and upper 40s inland. Friday will start sunny before cloud cover increases. Rain is expected late Friday into Saturday, mainly over northern Maine.
Residents in northern counties should prepare for slippery roads and reduced visibility. Use caution while driving and monitor local alerts for any changes through the evening.
