Bangor, Maine – Maine residents should brace for a chilly, soggy Saturday as steady rain moves in overnight, bringing over an inch of precipitation to parts of the state and holding daytime highs in the 50s.
According to the National Weather Service in Caribou, rain will develop between midnight and dawn, with the heaviest totals—1 to 1.5 inches—expected across the central highlands and Downeast areas including Bangor, Millinocket, and Bar Harbor. Northern locations like Caribou and Fort Kent may see up to 0.8 inches, though totals there remain uncertain.
The rain, which could include rumbles of thunder near the coast, is expected to last through Saturday night. Residents in towns such as Lincoln, Ellsworth, and Patten should plan for reduced visibility and potential localized ponding on roadways. Saturday’s highs will struggle to reach the upper 50s, a stark drop from Friday’s mild 70s.
Sunday will bring cloud cover and a few lingering showers but slightly warmer temperatures. Sunshine returns Monday with summer-like highs in the 80s, but another front with thunderstorms could arrive Tuesday.
