Caribou, Maine – Light snow will spread across northern Maine late tonight and continue into Tuesday evening, with up to 1 inch possible in higher elevations and minor travel impacts expected.

According to the National Weather Service in Caribou, the best chance for accumulation will be across Aroostook County and the North Woods, including areas near Fort Kent, Presque Isle and Clayton Lake. While snowfall totals are expected to remain light, untreated roads could become slick, especially during the Tuesday morning commute.

Forecasters say high temperatures through Thursday will run a few degrees above normal. Typical mid-February highs range from 24 degrees in Caribou to 31 degrees in Bangor, and many communities will climb slightly above those averages through midweek.

No major storms are anticipated for the remainder of the workweek. However, a developing system off the Mid-Atlantic coast late this weekend bears watching, though confidence in track and impacts remains low at this time.

Drivers across northern Maine should plan for brief slippery conditions late tonight into Tuesday, and monitor updates if the weekend system trends closer to the region.
