Caribou, ME – Northern Maine residents should prepare for light snow showers and slippery roads starting tonight and continuing through Tuesday. Forecasts predict up to an inch of snow in certain areas, with gusty winds and cold temperatures creating potentially hazardous travel conditions.
According to the National Weather Service, light snow will begin before 4 p.m. Tuesday, with scattered snow showers lingering through the evening. Gusts could reach up to 22 mph, significantly reducing visibility on major routes like Route 1 and Route 161. Drivers are urged to slow down and allow extra time for their commute.
Tuesday night will bring additional scattered snow showers before 1 a.m., with lows dropping to 18°F and winds ranging from 11 to 14 mph. Snow showers will persist into Wednesday, with gusts nearing 25 mph, further complicating travel across the region. Highs will climb to only 25°F, keeping icy conditions a concern.
The snow tapers off Thursday, though scattered flurries remain possible. With temperatures staying below freezing all week, untreated roads and sidewalks could stay slick, increasing the risk of accidents.
Residents should prepare by clearing driveways and walkways, keeping emergency supplies in vehicles, and staying updated on weather alerts. For up-to-date information, visit the National Weather Service website or check local advisories.
