Caribou, ME – The weather in Maine is set to take a turn this weekend as the remnants of Storm Debby bring heavy rain and the potential for flash flooding, particularly by Saturday night. While Thursday is expected to be pleasant with highs in the 70s and mostly sunny skies, the situation will change as we head into the weekend.
According to the National Weather Service in Caribou, rain and thunderstorms are forecasted to begin late Friday and continue into Saturday, with multiple rounds of precipitation expected. The heaviest rainfall is likely to affect the Moosehead Region and areas extending into the North Woods and Crown, where flash flooding could occur.
Forecasters warn that rainfall amounts could reach up to 3 inches in some areas, which may lead to isolated flash flooding, especially in regions with poor drainage. Residents are urged to stay informed and prepared, as localized flooding can be unpredictable and hazardous.
Although the weekend won’t be a complete washout, those in the affected regions should anticipate dodging showers and storms intermittently throughout the weekend. Sunday is expected to bring some relief, with clearing skies and highs in the lower 70s, making for a more pleasant end to the weekend.
