Caribou, Maine – Maine residents face below-average temperatures and scattered rain showers through the weekend, especially along the Downeast coast Thursday night. With temperatures dropping into the 40s across the north and mid-50s farther south overnight, Friday morning will feel notably cooler across the region.

According to the National Weather Service in Caribou, rain showers will move along the Downeast coast Thursday evening, clearing by early Friday morning. Forecasters emphasize mostly dry conditions statewide Friday and Saturday, accompanied by below-normal temperatures in the low to mid-70s during the daytime.

Cooler-than-average temperatures will be felt distinctly in Bangor, Presque Isle, and Ellsworth, prompting residents to layer up, particularly overnight and during early mornings. Although conditions stay dry through Saturday, temperatures begin rebounding Sunday, warming into the 80s across much of northern Maine. Officials warn there’s potential for thunderstorms by late Sunday, mainly over northern regions.

Residents are advised to keep jackets handy, especially in the evening, and prepare for possible thunderstorms late weekend. Further weather advisories could follow as storm potential is assessed. Stay tuned to local forecasts for timely updates.
