Bangor, Maine – Relief from Tuesday’s record-setting heat is arriving just in time for midweek, with drier and cooler air settling across much of Maine through Friday.

According to the National Weather Service in Caribou, dew points are dropping Wednesday, making the warmth more tolerable despite temperatures reaching the mid-to-upper 80s in Downeast cities like Bar Harbor and Calais. Most areas will stay dry through Friday, but rain becomes likely on Saturday, with precipitation chances rising to 60–75% across inland towns including Greenville, Millinocket, and Dover-Foxcroft.

From Thursday through Sunday, high temperatures will run several degrees below seasonal averages, with Bangor, Houlton, and Frenchville struggling to break the low 70s. Overnight lows will dip into the 40s and low 50s across much of the region, especially inland.

Drivers should prepare for reduced visibility and slick roads Saturday afternoon, when the highest rain totals are expected. Power outages aren’t likely, but those with weekend plans should keep devices charged and monitor updates.

Rain chances taper Sunday, with another unsettled period possible early next week. Warnings or advisories could be issued closer to the weekend.
