Caribou, Maine – Northern Maine will see a stretch of cool, dry weather through midweek before a shift toward wetter conditions arrives by Friday night. Highs today will range from the low 70s in the north to the mid-70s farther south, while nighttime lows dip into the 40s across central and northern counties and into the low 50s Downeast.

According to the National Weather Service in Caribou, skies will remain mostly clear tonight and again Wednesday night, offering crisp evenings and even a view of the thin new moon on the western horizon. Winds will stay light, with gusts up to 25 mph possible this afternoon.

By late week, a new upper-level disturbance dropping out of Canada will bring increasing chances for showers. The best window for rain looks to be Friday afternoon through Saturday, with a 40 to 50 percent chance of precipitation across Aroostook County and surrounding areas.

Drivers may encounter wet roads late in the week, especially along Route 1 and I-95. Residents are advised to take advantage of the clear midweek stretch for outdoor plans before unsettled weather develops.

Cooler nights will persist into the weekend, but temperatures are expected to trend warmer again early next week.
