Farmington, Maine – Roads across western Maine and northern New Hampshire will turn snow-covered by 2 a.m. Sunday as a widespread storm drops up to 10 inches, creating hazardous travel through the overnight hours into early Monday.

According to the National Weather Service in Gray, a Winter Storm Warning is in effect from 2 a.m. Sunday until 2 a.m. Monday for areas including Franklin and Oxford counties in Maine and Carroll County in New Hampshire. Snowfall totals between 6 and 10 inches are expected, with steady bands of moderate to heavy snow reducing visibility, especially during the Sunday morning and evening travel periods.

Routes such as U.S. 2, Route 26, and roads through Crawford Notch and Rangeley could see rapid accumulation, making driving difficult at times. Communities including Bethel, Rumford, Farmington, and North Conway will likely experience the most consistent snowfall rates.

Drivers are urged to delay non-essential travel and prepare for changing road conditions. If travel is unavoidable, keep emergency supplies in your vehicle, including food, water, and a flashlight. Road conditions can be monitored through NewEngland511.

Snow will taper after midnight Sunday night, but slick roads may persist into early Monday. Additional advisories remain possible as the storm develops.
