Ogunquit, ME – A crash on I-95 in Ogunquit killed two people early Thursday, prompting a shutdown of the Maine Turnpike.
Maine State Police responded around 6:05 a.m. after a tractor-trailer lost control, crossing the median and striking two vehicles. The truck, owned by EW Logistics, was driven by Xiaoying Ma, 35, of New York City.
A Cadillac sedan, driven by Linda Huelsman, 64, of Kennebunk, was struck first. She died at the scene. The truck also hit a Mack Box truck operated by Brian Ellis, 55, of Kittery. He was taken to Portsmouth Regional Hospital, where he later died.
Ma was transported to York Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Officials suspect weather conditions played a role in the crash.
Southbound lanes were closed at Exit 14 in Wells but have since reopened. The York County District Attorney’s Office is reviewing potential charges.
Ogunquit and Wells fire departments assisted at the scene. The investigation remains ongoing.
