Caribou, ME – A mix of rain and snow is expected across Maine on Monday as temperatures drop sharply following a mild start to the week.
According to the National Weather Service in Caribou, high temperatures Monday will reach near 50 degrees in the morning before a cold front moves in, bringing temperatures down to the 30s in northern areas and the 40s in Downeast Maine by late afternoon. Rainfall totals could exceed two inches Downeast, with up to three-quarters of an inch expected across northern regions.
By Monday night, the rain will transition into a brief period of snow before tapering off. Snowfall accumulations of up to an inch are possible in northern areas, while overnight lows will drop into the mid-20s in the north and the mid-30s Downeast.
Tuesday morning may start with lingering clouds, but conditions will improve throughout the day, leading to mostly sunny skies. Highs will range from the low 40s in the north to the upper 40s Downeast. Wednesday is forecasted to be mostly sunny, with temperatures nearing 50 degrees.
