Caribou, Maine – A significant spring weather shift is underway in Caribou and surrounding regions as a Wind Advisory goes into effect until 6 p.m. Sunday. Gusty winds are expected to impact travel and outdoor activities across much of Northern and Eastern Maine. The advisory, issued by the National Weather Service, warns of wind speeds ranging from 15 to 30 mph, with gusts up to 55 mph.

According to the National Weather Service, the strongest wind gusts will be concentrated in higher terrain, including the Moosehead Region and Aroostook County, particularly around Baxter State Park. While gusty winds are expected across much of the state, they will be most pronounced in these elevated areas.

Residents and travelers should take precautions. Loose outdoor items may be blown around, creating potential hazards, and tree limbs could be downed, leading to localized power outages. If you plan to drive, especially in high-profile vehicles, extra caution is advised as these winds could make conditions hazardous, particularly on higher bridges and exposed roads.

Looking ahead, spring weather in Caribou will continue to show signs of shifting, with cooler temperatures expected on Monday and beyond. A high of 54°F is forecast for Monday, with winds shifting northwest and gusting up to 31 mph.

On Tuesday, rain becomes likely, with temperatures reaching 45°F by the afternoon. This rain is expected to persist through the night, with winds intensifying as the system moves through. By Wednesday, Caribou will experience a high of 51°F, with cloudy conditions continuing.
