Caribou, ME – Residents across Maine are waking up to drier skies this Friday after widespread rain brought up to two inches in some areas. The National Weather Service (NWS) in Caribou reports that most of the system has cleared, leaving behind warmer and sunnier conditions for the days ahead.
According to the NWS, rainfall totals ranged from 0.5 to 1 inch across much of the north, while Downeast Maine saw higher amounts between 1 and 2 inches. Forecasters say Friday will be dry and warm across most of the state, though northern regions may see a chance of afternoon showers.
Above-average temperatures are expected through early next week, with highs reaching the mid-70s in many communities. A slight chance of showers lingers for northern Maine on Sunday, but otherwise, residents can expect mostly sunny skies and dry weather until the middle of next week, when another cooldown is likely.
The storm system has helped replenish soil moisture after recent dry stretches, but forecasters note little additional precipitation is on the horizon. Drivers and outdoor workers can look forward to improved conditions, though brief showers in the north may cause localized slowdowns.
