Portland, ME – The National Weather Service in Gray reports that a fast-moving winter system will bring a round of light to moderate snow to much of Maine beginning Sunday evening and continuing overnight into early Monday morning.
Snow totals are expected to range from 2 to 4 inches across central and coastal Maine, including Rumford, Skowhegan, Auburn, Wiscasset, and Rockland. Areas farther north, such as Jackman and Colebrook, may also receive 2–3 inches, while southern zones like Portsmouth and Sanford are forecast to see around 1 inch.
Forecasters say most of the snow will end before the Monday morning commute, but slick spots are likely, especially on untreated or secondary roads. Temperatures will remain near freezing overnight, allowing light snow to accumulate quickly on cold surfaces.
Travelers are advised to use caution and allow extra time when driving early Monday.
