Caribou, ME – Snow is set to move into northern Maine today, bringing gusty winds and potential travel hazards through Friday morning. Drivers should prepare for slick roads, especially during the evening commute.

According to the National Weather Service in Caribou, snow will begin this afternoon, intensifying in the evening before tapering to scattered snow showers overnight. Winds could gust up to 22 mph, causing patchy blowing snow and reduced visibility. Expected snowfall accumulation ranges from 1 to 3 inches.

Friday will bring scattered snow showers in the morning before turning partly sunny in the afternoon, with highs reaching 28°F. Winds will remain strong, with gusts up to 32 mph.

Over the weekend, temperatures will drop further, with lows near -7°F by Sunday night. A slight chance of snow returns Sunday morning, though accumulation is expected to be minimal.

Residents should use caution on roads, especially along U.S. Route 1, where reduced visibility and icy conditions are possible. The Maine Department of Transportation advises drivers to allow extra travel time and stay updated on road conditions.
