Augusta, Maine – Light snowfall is continuing across parts of Maine and northern New Hampshire Saturday morning, creating slippery roads and travel hazards across the region.

The National Weather Service in Gray, Maine, says a Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 11 a.m. for south-central Maine and southern Grafton and Carroll counties in New Hampshire, including cities such as Lewiston, Auburn, Augusta, Belfast, Rockland, and Waterville.

Another advisory remains in place until 2 p.m. for western and northern Maine and northern New Hampshire, including Farmington, Rangeley, Bethel, Berlin, Lancaster, and North Conway.

Forecasters expect an additional 1 to 4 inches of snow, bringing storm totals to around 2 to 5 inches in most areas.

Even though snowfall amounts are relatively light, officials warn that untreated roads could quickly become snow-covered, leading to hazardous driving conditions, especially during the morning hours.

Drivers are urged to slow down and use caution, and pedestrians should watch for icy sidewalks, driveways, and stairs that may increase the risk of falls.

Snowfall is expected to gradually taper off later this afternoon, with improving travel conditions expected by evening.
