Portland, ME – Cold air pushing into Maine and New Hampshire overnight will trigger widespread frost concerns through 6 a.m. Monday, putting home gardens and agricultural crops at risk. Temperatures are expected to fall into the lower 30s across interior regions.
According to the National Weather Service in Gray, a Frost Advisory is in effect for areas including Augusta, Lewiston, Bridgton, and interior York County. In New Hampshire, Concord, Keene, and the Lakes Region are under the same advisory. Sensitive plants left uncovered may suffer permanent damage.
Residents in affected areas should cover plants with breathable cloths and bring potted plants indoors. Farmers are also advised to take protective measures for young crops.
The advisory expires at 6 a.m. Monday, with warmer afternoons expected later in the week. Another advisory could be issued if cold air lingers.
